Program Description
The Summer LEGO Robotics Camp will introduce elementary school aged children (rising 5th, and 6th grades) to building and programming robots using LEGO Mindstorms. Students will learn mechanical design, construction, programming and teamwork skills. Students will work in small teams using LEGO blocks, motors, and sensors. Students use a computer to program the robot to move, react, and makes sounds in order to solve challenges. . Students are required to bring lunch. A snack will be provided.
The Summer Robotics Camp will introduce middle school aged children (rising 7th and 8th grades) to mechanical design, construction, programming, and teamwork skills using SeaPerch, a submersible, remotely operated vehicle (ROV). Students will build the SeaPerch and the robot will be controlled by the LEGO Mindstorm Intelligent Brick. Students are required to bring lunch. A snack will be provided.
Camp Fees "Early Bird" EXTENDED until May 15, 2012
Session 1 - June 18 - June 29, 2012 - $650 per student
Session 2 - July 9 - July 20, 2012 - $650 per student
Camp Fees - May 16, 2012-June 15, 2012
Session 1 - June 18 - June 29, 2012 - $700 per student
Session 2 - July 9 - July 20, 2012 - $700 per student
Payment: Personal Checks, Money Orders and Credit Cards are accepted for payment.
A $150.00 non-refundable application fee is included in the camp fee. If you cancel your child's registration by April 30, 2012 you will receive the amount that was paid minus $150.00. If you cancel your child's registration May 1, 2012 or after, $300 will be deducted from the fees paid. Once the Summer LEGO Camp sessions begin, no refunds.
Camp fees are due at registration. Fees may be paid via credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). Fees may also be paid by check and made payable to: The University of Maryland.
When paying by check, please mail your check in as soon as possible after submitting your application electronically. The receipt of an application without payment for the camp will not guarantee a space in the program for your child.
Before and Aftercare is available for an additional fee.
