The Bridge Program is designed for academically talented in-coming freshmen who plan to major in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or the physical sciences, and will be held from June 28 to July 31, 2009. POSITION TITLE:
Calculus (I/II) Instructor (2)
DEPARTMENT:
Center for Minorities in Science and Engineering
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate Student in a science, engineering, mathematics discipline or
any other related field; proficient in Calculus I and II (140 and 141);
Some knowledge of University of Maryland resources (i.e. registration,
financial aid, resident life, etc.); Experience working with students of diverse ethnic backgrounds
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Teach Calculus Workshop for Summer Bridge
-Monday—Friday from 8:00—10:30 AM
-Create a syllabus for the course
-Provide exams, quizzes and homework for students
-Attend weekly staff meetings to provide updates on student progress
-Serve as a mentor to students
-Attend Summer Staff Kick-off Luncheon on June 23rd, Math Instructors Luncheon, and the Opening and Closing Receptions
POSITON AVAILABLE:
June 28 – July 31, 2009
-Teaching begins on Tuesday, June 30th.
SALARY:
Salary is determined by the Mathematics Department
